I enjoy reading the blog. My favorite types of posts have been the “ten questions” ones, and also the ones where a specific need is presented and the opportunity is given to help (like the little boy who needed heart surgery, or the girl going to the Special Olympics).
As far as suggestions, I don’t really have a lot. I think you do a good job of presenting a variety of different topics. As an advocate, one thing I have run into a lot is that there are people out there who have a heart for children at risk and would really like to sponsor a child, but financially can’t commit to it right now. Maybe an idea would be to do a few blog posts aimed toward those folks to show them ways they can still help Compassion’s ministry.

I love how this blog promotes hope instead of destitution. It is very encouraging to read about how children’s lives are being changed through God’s work though us. My favorite posts are the ones that give insight to the behind-the-scenes work of letter writing, when a child is sponsored, etc. If I could make any suggestion, I would love to see a post some time about the younger generation sponsors. I’m in high school and I would love to see more about what we can do to represent to other peers. LOVE this blog, though! Thanks!
I appreciate how Christ based this blog is. Perhaps it could be even more Christ based. Maybe you could strive to incorporate scripture into each post. Oh yea, more pictures are always good too! Even if nothing is changed about this blog,I still will love to read it! Thank you!!!
I love the posts about day-to-day life in the countries where Compassion works. I really love the letter-writing posts, as it encourages me to write more often and be more creative in my letters. I also do like the posts that give detailed information about Compassion processes, as it helps to make me feel more connected to the ministry.
I have to say that I don’t read most of the posts about specific individuals, whether they are in the program or have already graduated. Probably because they are not my kids. 🙂 I would love to see more cultural information about each country. I love to learn more about where my kids come from.
I LOVE the Compassion blog! I sponsor with a number of organizations, and this blog is one of the reasons Compassion is a favorite. It was reading the blog that motivated me to start writing to my sponsored kids much more often, and to start a second-Saturdays letter writing group at my school. I love finding out more about how sponsorship affects the kids’ lives, and the ins-and-outs of how Compassion works in each country.
I confess, I’m not clear on what is meant by “mommy” posts. What would a “masculine” post entail? News about how sports are played in other countries? If you are sponsoring with Compassion, it seems to me you would be interested in just about anything the blog has to say–I am.
This is the only corporate blog that I read regularly (well apart from the company I work for). As an Advocate I find it to be a great resource and I always mention it to new sponsors as it is a great way to get answers to all of the questions that you don’t even know that you have yet.
I read the blog regularly and have for years. They help me stop and take time out of my busy schedule to remember to write my sponored children. They also give me insight into what life is like for my children and how I can better meet their needs as a sponsor. I would love to see Kees posting in the blog about his visits to his sponsored kids. He is such a motivator! I also love the opportunity to join in on larger projects…like the child who needed help w/his heart and the young lady going to the special olympics. These type of projects are too big for me alone – but are something I love to be a part of. I also love the “mommy” posts. I want to know how my children live, what life is like, how to pray for them, and how to better support them. Also, at some point I received letters from the pastors at some of the kids’ projects – telling me details about the kids and the project I might otherwise have never known. I would love to see some of these in the blog as well (even if it is not from my specific childrens projects). Thank you so much for all you are doing for these precious children of God. – Amanda
I really like this blog! For two yrs I had sponsored with another group and they didn’t have this so I never knew their credibility but with compassion all I get is more excited everytime I read a blog or a journal from our compassion! I have learned so much, gained such love and respect for so many people, and I praise God for so many dedicated people!!

I love reading the Compassion blog! It helps me to relate to my child by learning more about the country that they live in and how the holidays are celebrated. It helps me to remain more focused on my sponsorship by giving me more confidence in Compassion as I learn more about how things are run and handled in the main office. It helps me to grow spiritually as I am reminded of how blessed I truly am. I don’t really see anywhere that the blog falls short except that I do agree with Kenneth’s post above that most of the articles are more directed towards the ladies. Although, being a lady, that doesn’t really bother me. I would love to read more posts about what day to day life is like in the countries where we sponsor the children. Those are probably my favorite articles as they help me to put life into prospective. You guys are doing a great job with the blog! Keep up the good work!
Thank you Melissa. This leaning toward “mommy” posts, as Kenneth described them, reflects the fact that approximately 2/3 of our sponsors are women. Obviously, that isn’t 100% and I need to make sure that we’re serving all of our sponsors as well as possible. I will keep this in mind as I’m searching for and creating the content to share. Thanks again.
It really helps when I do read the blogs with giving me ways to encore my sponsor children. If I could change one thing, I would some how make it more interesting to read.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how interesting is the blog to you?
To be completely honest, I never was a blogger before when I sponsored just one child. Now that I sponsor three children and have gotten more involved, and will take time to read the blogs. This is the only blog that I read. I used to blog in the past but will blog more now and use it as a tool to reach Compassion sponsors, new, existing, and potential.
I do read daily (or every other day) the Compassion blogs. I like how members can subscribe and have the blog e-mailed to them. I check e-mail everyday so I like how I can read the blog directing from my e-mail. Otherwise I would only go to the actual blog 1-2 a month. I do know that the blogs are divided amongst categories. Is it possible to have blogs from categories of interest e-mailed? This might appeal to more people to subscribe so that they are getting posts meaningful to them and their ministry with Compassion.
It’s a great “mommy blog”, but falls short in connecting with the masculine dimension of God’s image. I’ll glance over the topics, but rarely engage the hand-holding dialogue. I can’t wait for the blog upgrade!
Good point. What do you think is the best way to bring a masculine dimension to the blog in a way that adds value to an audience that is primarily, but not solely, women?

ONLY corporate blog I regularly read. I’ve read about 700 posts on here. I love how much I have learned about Compassion by reading the blog. I feel it equips me as a sponsor, by serving as a catalyst to ignite my passion of being a voice for the voiceless, and it enables me to share more about the ministry with people I talk to.
