cbc battle of the blades Valeri Bure has made it to the final episode!

The buzz is all about Battle of the Blades at Compassion Canada. When we first learned that we had been named as Val Bure’s recipient charity, we were amazed at this honor.

As I’ve been following along with the show, I couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to see the performances live. And on Monday, I got to find out as part of the studio audience for the results show.

Sunday’s relationships-themed competition saw the men take the center stage, allowing them to strut their stuff on their own. Val’s routine was terrific — until his skate caught and tripped him up.

The result? For the first time in the competition, Val and Katia received the lowest score. The chances were high that this could be the end of their run. We waited anxiously as co-host Ron McLean revealed that the viewers had sent them to the skate-off once again (it’s funny, I never thought that I’d find figure-skating that exciting).

Katia and Val’s routine was amazing; the couple knew they had to bring their game up to a whole new level to stay alive. Impressive lifts wouldn’t be enough. So they pulled out some incredibly intricate, flawless footwork. The routine was superb, all of us in the audience loved it, and the judges agreed!

Val and Katia will be competing in the final round of Battle of the Blades, Sunday, November 21st. Keep praying that we’d see them take the top spot, and show them your support with your votes.

See you next week with the final results! — Aaron Armstrong

Boy I wish I could watch this! I found a few excerpts on YouTube and really enjoyed them. The Bures seem like a great family too. I hope they win – what a great way to get the word out about Compassion!
