Global Food Crisis
Join Compassion’s Day of Prayer and Fasting on June 25, 2008. This is the day we will honor the victims of the global food crisis and pray for them.

What is the global food crisis?

The World Food Programme calls the global food crisis a phenomenon, a “silent tsunami,” that is affecting families in every nation on every continent. Food prices for popular menu items like rice, wheat and beans have doubled in the last year.

Isn’t it funny how when you try to avoid something, you think about it even more? Everyone at work is talking about how hungry they are today. Well, I’m not in ashes and sackcloth today so they don’t know I’m fasting. But I am reminding them of how it must feel to really be hungry. I’m hungry on purpose. But what about all of those who are hungry and have no choice?

Beth, I agree completely. I fasted yesterday for the global food crisis and at one point I said that I was starving and I took it back quickly. I truly do not know what starving is. It is so sad that so many people do know the feeling of starving. I can’t imagine.

Thank you Compassion for all that you do!

    God Bless

Today is Compassion Canada’s day of fasting and prayer. God showed up this morning when I went hungry to church with my kids. What an amazing experience!
