In 3 sentences??? I'll have to work on that!!! I just put a 'blurb' in our church bulletin about Compassion. It was 10 sentences!! And I STILL felt like I left stuff out!!! LOL!!! Yeah, it was a bit wordy. I definitely will be looking forward to reading what people come up with here, so I can sum it up more easily for people....

Have you ever seen a miracle?
Compassion International, through sponsors around the world, giving a "cup of cold water" in the Name of Jesus, have provided the physical & spiritual hope to otherwise, forgotten children.
Jesus turned the water into wine, the young boy's lunch into a feast, whatever gift we put into His Hands, He will meet the need!

We are the world's leading Christian child development organization. We are committed to releasing children from poverty in Jesus' name through wholistic interventions implemented exclusively through local churches. It is our desire to facilitate mutually upbuilding relationships between needy children and their sponsors, and to introduce children to the eternal solution to poverty, Jesus Christ.

Ok i should be able to do this lol. I'm an advocate. Here i go:

Compassion International is a Christian child sponsership organization. Compassion Is different from st child sponsership organizations because you have a personal relationship with your child through letters and pictures, most of the money goes directly to your child, and your helping your child with spiritual needs not just phisical needs. Compassion will not only change not only the life of a child but your life as well for just $38 a month.

thats 3 :) I did it!!!

Compassion is a child sponsorhip program that focuses on lifting children out of poverty one by one through interaction with local churches. What makes them different is they work together with local churches so the child has a solid foundation and support structure while growing in Christ. They have also received Charity Navigator's highest rating for 8 years in a row proving that they are who they say they are and are not just out to scam people out of their money.

Those are my three sentences. Usually if they express more interest, I tell them about my kids, including showing pictures and letters as I usually have their latest letter with me (so I can write replies on my lunch hours) and I always have their photos in my wallet. :)

I've got a couple:

Compassion works with the church to give kids an education, healthcare, social skills and teach them about Jesus.

Even simpler:

Compassion works with the church to help kids meet the eternal solution to poverty--Jesus Christ.

Compassion Dave - That's awesome. As the help children need becomes more real everyday to my slow-moving mind, the ownership of the children's needs grow.

I agree, asking for help is a good step, but a simple plea is far more honest to my desire. Thanks for commenting.

It's sad to say, but if you don't grab someone's attention in the first 10 seconds, regardless if it is in an elevator or a cathedral, you spend the rest of your time and effort playing catch-up. While that might sound somewhat gimmicky, it doesn't negate the truth.

Therefore, it is necessary to captivate our audiences with a phrase or activity that leaves them wanting more -- in this case the 'more' is 'information'.

I had a Compassion event this past weekend and I tried something very different, at least it was different for me, and I believe more children (than average) were sponsored as a result.

Instead of asking...

"Would you like to sponsor a Compassion child?"

to the folks walking by our table, I instead did NOT ask a question, but made a statement...

"Please sponsor a Compassion child."

It was a subtle difference, but MORE people stopped and chatted with me (and I believe) MORE people sponsored children. The thought process behind this personal change was, if I were asking a stranger to save MY child's life, would I politely ask, "Would you like to help," or would my simple plea be, "Please help."

I know I would be more direct if it were my own, therefore it is only right (as an advocate for these voiceless children) that I plea for them as if they were my own.
