Dave I agree with you, when I look at the pictures from Nicaragua I want to give myself a Gold medal for going through with it!!! I was nervous leading up to it myself especially the day of!!! But Yvonne Brown did an AMAZING job by telling us some stories of other Compassion Tours and various other experiences other sponsors had that as sad as it is to say made me feel better b/c of their "bad" experiences. I should have gone on to the Global Advocates Conference!!! Well maybe I can try to go to the next one!!! Thanks for all the pictures and blogs!!! It helped me feel like I was there a little!!!

See you tomorrow or Sunday, Dave!

I remember the first time I met Denisse, in DR. It was my first sponsor tour. I was sitting on a low wall outside the now-former office, waiting with other sponsors for our respective children to come out as they finished eating breakfast. I was excited and a little nervous. And then I looked to my right, and she was coming through the door with a woman I mistakenly thought was her mother.

I said, "Denisse!!" and pushed myself off the wall. By the time I had taken the five or six steps to where she stood, I had tears running down my face, and I grabbed her for a hug.

Compassion actually recommends that we try to keep our emotions under control so as not to overwhelm the children--especially the first time we meet them. I didn't know that, then, and no one was more surprised than I to find that I was crying!

I can't wait to meet you all either! I am however a little nervous about meeting my sponsored child (please shoot up a prayer for me--isn't it silly that I'm nervous about this).
