This Blog is Going to Kenya

Kenya blog We’re traveling with the Compassion Bloggers on their latest trip to see our ministry in action, Mar. 4 -10, and our goal is to help you feel a little closer to the children you sponsor, even if you don’t happen to sponsor a child in Kenya.

While we’re in Kenya, we’ll be looking to blog about the hows and whys behind the work our church partners and country staff perform. We want to give you that “Sponsorship 201″ experience, something to complement the stunning, inspirational and tender stories our traveling companions will be delivering, and something that builds upon your existing relationship with us.

We’ll be visiting these four child development centers, and these kids, who are waiting to be sponsored, are registered at them. If you sponsor one of the children, it’ll make this blog trip much more meaningful for you. You’ll get a great look at your child’s world without having to leave the comfort of your home.

I sponsor a boy in Kenya, but not at any of those projects. I’ll be checking the updates!

I see that you all will be going to KE 555 at Olturoto PEFA Child Development Center. I have a correspondence boy there named Lemayian Muremi. He is 11 years old. It would be so cool if I saw pictures of his project, or even a picture of him to see how much he has changed! I have yet to receive a letter from him, but I hear from Compassion that he was quite a letter writer to his sponsor, who never wrote to him.

    Tania,

Stay tuned because you’ll definitely get some, if not all of what you wanted. I’ll see what I can do.

My visit to Kenya in 2006 and seeing my Ntikoisa and Tyson was a fantastic experience! I am so looking forward to the day I will be able to return to visit them again!

I sponsor a sixteen year old boy in Kenya – Mahaya Child Development Center – Project KE 805. Wish you were going there, as I’d love to see some pictures. Don’t have my first letter form him yet as I just started sponsoring him around Christmas. Can’t wait to follow the blogs and get a glimpse into Odhiambo’s country.

    Tania,

I’m sorry to say that because of recent heavy rains we didn’t make it to KE-555. The river we had to cross was running too high, so we ended up going to another center.

I sponsor a girl at project KE704, and see you won’t be going there, either. I wish so very much that you were! I’ve sponsored her for 5 years, and will never be able to go. I am disabled and it just won’t ever happened. I hope someone will go to 704 someday.
