count your blessings November is the time of year when many people contemplate the blessings they have in life. And it is no wonder. Since 1863 in the United States, we have had a national holiday set aside to give thanks for God’s blessings in our lives.

Many people spend Thanksgiving day with family and friends, eating a big feast and watching football games. While sharing about all the food at your big Thanksgiving feast would be insensitive to your sponsored children, this month gives us an opportunity to share about the history of Thanksgiving, as well as some of the traditions you have in your family.

count your blessings

Thank You, Lord, for blessing me with life today.

  • Looking for printables to send? You can find quite a few Thanksgiving-themed options at Christian Preschool Printables.
  • Not sure what questions to ask your sponsored child this month? How about a few of these journal prompts.
  • Send a set of gratitude cards to your sponsored child, and use a set at your own Thanksgiving gathering.

This month, help us find Thanksgiving projects and ideas to share with our sponsored children for our Second Friday Letter Writing Club on Pinterest. Not a member yet? Be sure to leave the URL for your Pinterest profile in a comment below, and I will add you to our growing group of “pinners”!

I am having no problem writing letters to my sponsored child. What I AM having a problem with is scheduling mailings for sufficient lead time for timely delivery in Ecuador! I need to tear apart a calendar and rearrange the months so I have no excuse if my Compassion Calendar says it’s December it will be the 10th month in my “year”. Time to mail Christmas gift package!
