Live with integrity What does it mean to live with integrity?

Listen to Mark Hanlon, Senior Vice President of Compassion USA, talk about the importance of living with integrity.

Integrity is not common.

“But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” – Matthew 7:14, NIV

To live with integrity:

  • means we don’t compromise our faith in Christ.
  • means the small things matter.
  • means life can feel lonely.
  • reflects the character of God who dwells within us.
  • requires intention.

At Compassion, integrity means that we say what we mean and we do what we say. We value accurate information and full transparency. We hold ourselves accountable and share the full truth, even when it is difficult.

Officially, we describe it as:

“… aligning our thoughts, motivations, attitudes and actions with the ethical principles found in God’s Word. In both our personal lives and our ministry, what we believe, what we say and what we do should be consistent, congruent, reliable and transparent.”

I hope that when people look at me, they say, “that girl lives her life with integrity” It’s not always easy in our world today, but I try my best!

Most importantly we want to hear “Well done, good and faithful servant”

It’s the integrity of the organization, that allows me to go up to potential sponsors and with full confidence encourage them to sponsor a child. If that wasn’t part of Compassion, it would be very difficult that find sponsors for children.

I have been sponsoring children through Compassion for 16 years…an advocate for 14 years. I am regularly impressed by Compassion’s commitment to integrity and it makes me honored and proud to be a representative for them.

I just wanted to say a HUGE amen to the desperate need for integrity within the world of Christians (outside of there would be great too!). God gave a vision for a Resource, Counselling and Retreat Centre 13 years ago, and on 3rd March this year, we opened out doors. It’s purpose is to “be a beacon of HOPE in Rugy, Warwickshire” and God said VERY CLEARLY “I WILL BUILD EVERYTHING ON THESE THREE FOUNDATION STONES INTEGRITY, CREDIBILITY AND PROFESSIONALISM” and He has, without a doubt, begun to do so. My prayer for ourorganisation, and every other Christian organisation is that we will LIVE this. “Let your yes be yes and your no be bo”. When trust and hope has been destroyed, and your world is one of despair and brokenheartedness, a YES must mean yes and a NO must mean no. It’s a proof of our character (modelling Christ) that we live BEIN integrity, credibility and professionalism not just DOING IT! Hope I haven’t rabbitted on too long but feel so utterly convicted of this as God’s truth for us all.
