What if we never heard the story of how David slew Goliath? Or the story about Jesus rebuking the storm? How about when Elijah brought the widow’s son back to life?
Honestly … think of your faith without all those miraculous stories.
I can’t do it. I can’t think of my faith without thinking about the great things the Lord has done.
- When I need patience, I think of Abraham.
- When I need strength, I think of Ruth.
- When I need to work on truly seeking the face of the Lord, I think of David.
- When I want to understand how to love more, I think of all the ways Jesus loved everyone … and that’s a lot of stories.
The Lord has let us in. We have access to knowing what He has done and the outcomes He has produced.
As you may know, I am a big fan of stories. Coming to Compassion has only made me fall more in love with stories. Stories take what I cannot see or comprehend and make it a reality for me.
It just so happens that Compassion is overflowing with stories:
- Stories about the impact you make in the lives of children in poverty.
- A story about young adults who are working toward becoming doctors, teachers, engineers … because of their child development centers.
- Stories about our church partners.
Of course, the challenge is getting these wonderful stories to you, our faithful sponsors.
Oh, wait! It’s not that big of a challenge. We have the blog
and then, there’s our Impact e-Newsletter.
Impact is Compassion’s monthly e-newsletter designed specifically for people with a heart for children in poverty. Discover educational resources, read inspiring stories, and learn practical ways to get involved in the fight against global poverty.
It’s simple to subscribe too.
- Log into compassion.com
- Click on “Update E-mail Interests,” on the left side of the page.
- Click the box to receive the Impact e-Newsletter.
And once you begin receiving the newsletter, we’ve included an easy way to share the content with your friends on Facebook, Twitter or MySpace.
Simple, right?
We want it to be simple because Impact doesn’t just contain “any” stories. These are stories the Lord has written. Ideas the Lord has inspired. Accomplishments the Lord has blessed.
OK, want to know something else (lean in a bit closer) … our April Impact e-newsletter is going to be packed with some amazing news. I can barely wait for it to come out, and I know what is in it!
There is going to be that story about … oh wait, I don’t think I’m supposed to talk about that yet.
Oh! But there is this new … oh no, I think I also need to hush up about that.
Well, at least I can tell that in April we will be releasing … eek! I’m pretty sure this is one I really can’t talk about.
OK, all is not lost! April is not too far away. Go sign-up to receive the newsletter today so we can talk about how amazing our new … well, you’ll know more on April 6!

Also…when I’m resisting obedience, I think of Esther.

Compassion is such a faithful organization. We have been a part for many years, and have been very impressed with your work.
It sounds like you’ll have a great newsletter. Stories touch people’s hearts, so it should be great.
Thanks for all you do.

I’ve been signed up forever, but it seems like I only get it about half the time…hope it comes this time!
March 25th, 2009 at 9:06 pm
Oh boy — it reminds me of that time — ok, I won’t bring that up.
But really, there was a great story about — no, it isn’t my turn is it?
You really ought to tell them about — no, that might take too long.

Does anyone know how I can sign up for this, I am unable to log into compassion.com and get an account because I sponsor through compassion Uk, but I don’t seem to be able to find any log in details on the compassion UK website. I would like to be able to create an account online. So if anyone knows if there is a link on the UK website or not and if not do you know if there is any plans to do so.
Thank you for your help
Jo

March 26th, 2009 at 10:53 pm
Thank you Brianne, I have signed up for that now. But do you know if I am able to sign up for an account online, where I am able to view information about my sponsored children?
March 26th, 2009 at 11:37 pm
Same here, Katie and Shelley!
March 30th, 2009 at 8:14 am
@Jo – You may try using this link from the main Compassion website. It’s for sponsors outside the US.
https://www.compassion.com/Account/NewUser.htm
Above the fields that ask for your information there’s an option for “outside the US” or something.
Hopefully your account will have all the features of those for US sponsors, particularly child information and emailing the children options.

@Shelly Quigg – @Allen – @Katie – Yeah, I never got the emails with my Gmail address; I’ve been getting things mailed to my Yahoo account after I switched my information. I don’t know if the type of address makes a difference.

Jo,
I posted a reply to your question about signing in to your account on the Compassion U.K. website on the other post. I apologize that you had to ask the question several times before getting an answer.

Hi!
I just received an impact email… it was entitled Impact E-Newsletter April 2009… but when I opened it…. it was dated March 2009… did I receive the latest impact newsletter?
Thanks for clarifying!
April 6th, 2009 at 5:42 pm
I am still not getting the newsletters. I have been signed up for awhile but the only things I get are the copies of the letters I email. Can anyone help me?
April 7th, 2009 at 6:42 am
@Sara Benson – I’ll check into this for you.
April 7th, 2009 at 6:44 am
@Rebecca – You did receive the latest newsletter. That was just a ploy to increase the number of comments on this post.
Actually, it was a proofing oversight. Sorry for the confusion.
April 7th, 2009 at 10:27 am
I still haven’t gotten anything. Can someone forward one to (shecass9@aol.com)?
Thank you!
April 7th, 2009 at 10:41 am
@Shelly Quigg – I’ll check into this for you as well, and make sure the April edition gets sent to you.
April 7th, 2009 at 11:49 am
I also have not received the Impact newsletter yet (adewey1@juno.com).
April 7th, 2009 at 12:31 pm
@Sara Benson – @Shelly Quigg – An Impact newsletter should be on the way, or already in your inbox. I’ve also been told that you shouldn’t have any issues going forward.
@Alan – I’m checking into this for you.
April 7th, 2009 at 2:10 pm
I also haven’t recieved the impact newsletter yet. (jobaker2008@googlemail.com)
April 7th, 2009 at 2:20 pm
@Jo – Please verify for me that you are subscribed to the newsletter. You can check this by logging into compassion.com (the link is in the post above) and navigating to the manage email interests page.
@Alan – If you could verify your subscription as well, I’d appreciate it.
We’ve sent the latest newsletter to you, but I want to make sure you’re subscribed for future version. If you are, then I have additional work to do.
April 7th, 2009 at 4:08 pm
@Chris Giovagnoni –
Thanks Chris! I got it.
April 7th, 2009 at 5:59 pm
I have also not received the Impact newsletter. I have verified that the box is checked in my email interests page. (mariafaith01@gmail.com)
April 7th, 2009 at 9:05 pm
Chris,
I received the Impact newsletter now and was subscribed on my email settings.
April 8th, 2009 at 4:49 am
Chris,
I think I am subscribed for the newsleter, as early in this post I asked about it and got a reply (comment 13) which gave me a link to sign up for it there which I did.
Thank you
Jo
April 8th, 2009 at 7:18 am
Hi Maria,
Sorry for the problem. You should be receiving Impact from now on and the April subscription was just sent your way
April 8th, 2009 at 3:50 pm
@Jo – The link Brianne gave you was for the Compassion U.K. newsletter. Impact is a product of Compassion U.S.
Did you create a U.S. web account via the link Judy Tremblay posted? If so, you can elect to receive the Impact newsletter via the manage email interests.
I will have the April edition sent to you.
April 9th, 2009 at 12:30 am
Hi Chris,
I have tried to create an account from that link above and it wont let me, even after choosing the option for outside the USA, I just keep getting a message to say you sponsor through Compassion Uk and the compassion Uk website don’t have the option of setting up an account.
Thank you for your help
Jo

@Jo – Aaah! I’ve learned a few things.
1. The link we sent you to, for creating a web account on compassion.com, is for U.S. sponsors without a U.S. address.
Sorry about that.
2. Sponsors with our partners (U.K., Canada, etc.) can’t create web accounts through the U.S. website. And we’ve already talked about the fact that not all of our partners have web account availability – U.K. being one.
3. I took your question, which probably will come up again as Compassion becomes more visible in the world of social media, to the folks who handle our e-mails. They’re currently discussing the technical, practical, philosophical and theological
ins and outs of sending U.S. e-mails to anyone who may want to receive them.
