I'm currently sifting through all of the older posts as I've read all of the newer ones... and I have to say: I LOVE this post!!!

I, too, have eaten something similar to mayo sandwiches.... and something major was missing.

I also can't remember when I heard anyone in real life ~ not one of those infomercials on tv~ plead for help ministering to the poor.

I've been trying to get friends and family to start sponsoring some children, and so far no luck. But I will not give up!! So many lives are waiting for someone to reach out...

I was actually looking for sources on why we put mayo in bread when i came across your article.

It was very good. I pray for more fillings to your spiritual sandwich. :P

Yes, we do! That's exactly why we have an Advocacy team at Compassion International...to educate the Church in the US about global poverty and the biblical mandate to care for children and the poor.
If you'd like to check out some of the educational tools we're using to do that, go to www.compassion.com/child-advocacy

"Last year, a Barna poll found that more than 50 percent of church-goers in the US said they had not heard a single sermon about ministering to the poor over the past 12 months."

Man, we got to work on that!
