Meet Jhumur Biswas

Compassion is serving its fifth year in Bangladesh. It is a remarkable journey that is bringing the children of Bangladesh into the glory of Lord Jesus. A constant team effort is needed to build up the children of Bangladesh and release them from all kinds of poverty in Jesus’ name.
Along with the other field employees of Compassion, Jhumur Biswas has been playing a significant role in the Compassion ministry as Sponsor Donor Service Associate (SDS-A).
Jhumur joined Compassion Bangladesh five years ago Sunday (June 14). She is happily married to her husband, Albert, and they are expecting their first baby in October.
As an SDS-A, Jhumur has several major responsibilities. Her job is mainly office based; she processes the child information (child history, departure, transfer and correction) and photos of the children that are provided to her from the Compassion child development centers.
“It is always a pleasure to serve Compassion because, by my work, our children are having benefits and the sponsors are getting accurate, timely ormation.
“As an SDS-A, I have to check the case studies of the children that I receive from the Partnership Facilitators, and then I enter them in our computer system.
“To check the quality of the child photos and process them is another important part of my job.
“I also receive child letters from the centers and the sponsor letters from the partner countries. As a translation country, we need to translate both kinds of letters before sending them to the receivers.
“It requires time, but we try our level best so that the sponsors and the children get the letters as quickly as possible. Quality assurance is a key factor for our job.”
Jhumur is busy as she has her fixed time frames to submit work every month. Though sometimes it gets difficult to maintain the quality and meet the timelines, Jhumur enjoys her time at the office.
“We start our day by worship and prayer. All the staff in our office join their hearts together to worship our Lord before we initiate our everyday work.
“After the devotion I arrange my duties in order, with the highest priority going to the urgent and important tasks.
“It is such a nice and suitable environment in the Compassion office. My colleagues are very generous and helpful, which make my tasks easier for me.
“We have a tea break at 10 a.m. and a lunch break at 1 p.m. When my work is done, I try to help my other SDS-A colleagues in their work.”
Jhumur loves every portion of her job, but she considers the processing and quality checking of the child photos as the best part because it is a marvelous experience to witness the change in the lives of the children.
When she gets the first photos of the children she notices the poverty and vulnerability on their faces. However, when she receives new photos of these children, she finds some smiling, happy and healthy.
“I get so inspired by the love of our donors and sponsors. The way they love the children is amazing.
“When I read their letters to the children, I feel so peaceful deep inside my heart. It makes me realize that I am doing less for the children compared to the sponsors. Their expression of love encourages me to do more for the children.
“I want to convey my gratitude to our sponsors and donors for their wonderful love for the children. They are showing us the true way.
“I want to tell them that they could hardly imagine the great changes they are bringing in the lives of the children by their support. Both the children and sponsors are the real inspiration for us to go an extra mile.
“Our sponsors are representing our Lord Jesus through their support and love for the children.”
