Oh Lisa, that is a beautiful story. Thanks so much for sharing. I agree about the gift as you know. I hope someday my son does something like that for me. Until then. I'll be helping kids in honor of my mom and all that she did for me every month!

I have an interesting story about my mother's name. When I was pregnant, we started going to a new church. I was standing in a group of four women and they were asking me what name we had picked out for the baby. I mentioned that we were considering my mother's name -- Louise -- for a middle name.

One by one, each woman in the group said, "MY mother's name is Louise." I was standing in a group of five women, all children of women named Louise! What are the chances??!! (We named our daughter Ava Louise, by the way.) :)

I think a donation to Compassion's Child Survival Program in a mother's name is a great way to celebrate your mom -- and motherhood in general. It's like taking what you love about your mom -- what she's given to you -- and extending it to children around the world. Now that's a gift!

I agree that we need to be honoring our moms all year, and not on just one day. I'm thinking that a married couple whose marriage is not strong cannot make up for a year's worth of being unloving or feeling rejected by going all out on their anniversary. So it is with honoring our moms.

Yes, we give my mom a nice card, carefully chosen, and a gift for this one day, but we also do things for her and give her gifts, large and small, throughout the year.

Btw, all I have where the slide show is supposed to happen is a large black square and no way to transform it. I had the same thing a few days ago.

My mother's name is Anne.

Usually when Mother's Day comes around, the first thing I think is, "uh-oh, I haven't got a present for her yet!"

Spending $14 billion dollars on gifts for our mothers isn't going to let them know we think they're the greatest - loving them everyday will really show our mothers how much we appreciate them.

I agree it is so easy to forget people simply because they do not live close to us sometimes. And it does profoundly honor our mothers and God by helping others in need!!!
