@Jill Foley – I agree with feeling a little “duped” but again, this is why I love Compassion – they did not hide this fact and try to make it seem like more than it was. This was a conscious decision on their part and I’m fine with that because it was explained that way. It takes nothing away from the awesome-ness of it all!!

I have to admit that I was a little disappointed when I learned that this was “contrived” by Compassion…I thought it was so cool that God orchestrated the 1 millionth child to be from Togo, the newest country, and the sponsor to be from Korea…the first country Compassion was it. But after reading Chris’s comment that Fellow’s father comitted his life to Christ – all my disappointment washed away. Who cares how it happened…it happened!

@Kristen, @Cheryl J, @Vicki Small - The connection between South Korea, the country in which Compassion began its mission, and Togo, our most recent country is very symbolic. And that did not come about by chance. We were involved in the process. However, God used our involvement for His good because after Fellow was chosen, we learned that his father, who had walked away from God, decided to commit his life to Jesus.
