Why is Jesus Excellent to You?

Why is Jesus excellent to you? Proclaim it here.

Jesus is excellent because …

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” — 1 Peter 2:9, NASB (emphasis added)

I’ve dedicated a whole website to the excellence of Jesus and to how each of us can walk more closely to the Spirit of Christ as well as express the love for God in everything we do, everywhere we go….you are welcome to visit and enjoy the Open MP3 Player and many life application articles….

Er…you do know there is no God don’t you? And that although there was a man called Jesus around 2000 years ago, his deeds were grossly exaggerated? You do know this right?

I mean otherwise the alternative is inconceivable. That an all powerful God allows innocent children to suffer slow and agonising deaths in 3rd world countries; sits by and does nothing as paedophiles rape and torture young children…and then you guys all sing and say how great he is!

He is all that excellence is, excellence is nothing without Christ Jesus, who is our only true example of what excellence is. Great and mighty is our God, Halleluia

Jesus will stop at nothing; He will do whatever it takes–whatever. it. takes–to heal and to transform every part of my life that I will release to Him.

Things in the past, even the distant past, that caused me deep pain, regret and shame, whenever I thought about them have no more power over me, since I brought them out into His light and released them to Him.

Jesus can break the power of my sin. He can break the power of my shame. And He has! How can I not praise Him!

One of the many things that make Jesus Christ excellent is that He fulfilled over 300 old testament prophecies about the coming of the Savior. For one man to fill only 48 of those prophecies, the odds are something like 1 in 10 to the 157th power (thats a lot of zeros!) There is no doubt in my mind that Jesus is the promised Messiah and Savior of the world. To me, that is Excellent!

I adore my Savior there is none like him He is excellent in all His ways. Thank you Jesus for dying for a lost sin-sick world and help us to be an example in our communities so we can win others to you….Love you Jesus!!!

His name is the most important name that has ever been written or spoken. The name that is above every name. Phil. 2

    “For the Lord is good…”
What would life be like if God were evil and had all the power, intelligence and omni presence that He possesses. As we said when I was a kid. “We’d all be in a world of hurt.”

  9. Joel Andrew Glovier February 11, 2011

Jesus is excellent to me because he is gentle, patient and kind. He is faithful and true. He is worthy, and He is the Lamb who was slain.

  10. Juli Jarvis February 11, 2011

He is completely FOR me — His love never fails — He is excellent in His relationship and presence with me, always. No one else is excellent like this!

God tells us we are His children! So because He is King of Kings & Lord of Lords…we are His princes & princesses..this makes us very special….how excellent is this?

b/c of Isaiah 53:3-7 ” 3He was despised and rejected and forsaken by men, a Man of sorrows and pains, and acquainted with grief and sickness; and like One from Whom men hide their faces He was despised, and we did not appreciate His worth or have any esteem for Him.

4Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy].(B)

5But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.

6All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord has made to light upon Him the guilt and iniquity of us all.(C)

7He was oppressed, [yet when] He was afflicted, He was submissive and opened not His mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He opened not His mouth.”

Jesus is excellent to me because he is the most humble and most majestic thing in existence. He loved us (despite our filthiness) enough to come be one of us and die at our hands for our sake.

God doesn’t need us. He is eternal whether we know Him or not, yet He Loves us and gives us many opportunities to be with Him and to know Him. We don’t deserve that, but no amount of unworthiness can shadow grace.

Hebrews 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when He had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.

Nestled in there is His Being the “EXPRESSed IMAGE” [of the Father].
You wonder what God “looks” like? Look to Jesus:

“Come unto me all you who weary and heavy laden, and you shall find rest for your souls.”
“Suffer the little children to come unto me.”
“And I, If I be lifted up, will draw all men unto me.”
“But when He saw the multitudes He was moved with Compassion on them, for they fainted and were scattered abroad, as sheep, having no shepherd.”

“Have you been so long with me Phillip, yet you say ‘show us the Father?’ Do you not understand that I and the Father are one?”

Jesus is the Word, the Logos, the Revelation of the Trinity. There is no God “behind the back of” Jesus, but He faithfully expresses all of the Father’s heart toward us.

Why is Jesus Excellent to me? He is God. He is my Savior. He is excellent just because of who He is! To go personally He is my Hope. He has rescued me, redeemed me, chased me down and tackled me with His wondrous love, even as I ran. HOPE. JOY. CONTENTMENT.PEACE. When my life is focused on Him only, Joy Unspeakable.

Jesus is because He is, but in addition to that, the fact that He would find a use for a wretch like me amazes me.

  17. Anna February 11, 2011

The first thing that popped up in my mind is that he is faithful no matter how much I mess up.

  18. Lani February 11, 2011

The LORD Jesus Christ is excellent to me because He died for me; He is excellent to me because He is faithful, completely faithful. The LORD Jesus Christ is excellent to me because when He was on the cross, He was thinking of me and my brothers and sisters in Him. The LORD Jesus Christ is excellent to me because He is KING OF KINGS and LORD OF LORDS, and He loves me…of all people, me. Amazing!

Jesus has given me the oprtunidade serving with the poor and am being richly blessed by them through Christ and His Kingdom.

  20. Shannon February 11, 2011

Jesus is excellent to me because He saved me from the clutches of hell. He has sent me His Holy Spirit so I no longer have to go through life blind but with sight.

  21. Kevin February 11, 2011

I have no clue why he’s excellent to me, because I sure am not excellent to him all the time. I just know he is excellent.

    1. Kees Boer February 11, 2011

      Hi, Kevin,

When I think of Christ, I think of what He did for me on the cross. The Bible says that all of us have sinned. This sin is so repugnant to God that even if we had sinned just once, we would have to spend an eternity separated from God in a place called hell. To go to heaven, we would have to be perfect. That is the reason, why we can never do enough good works or be good enough to go there. It’d be like trying to jump to Europe from the USA.
So, God saw this situation and He went to the cross to be punished for our sins in our place…. I.e. Jesus took the punishment for us. He paid for sin and 3 days later, He rose from the dead, proving that the sin had been paid for.
Now, all we need to do to have eternal life is to trust Him as our Saviour. He paid for our sins. Once our sins are gone and we are His children, then you can know for sure that for one you’re on your way to heaven, but secondly that you are God’s delight. God sees you without sin then. He doesn’t even remember those sins anymore (Hebrews 11:17) So, then you will be excellent to Him, totally based on what Christ did for you on the cross.

These 3 things came to mind instantly for me

    * He NEVER changes. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.

    * He loves me unconditionally.

    * He won’t leave me.
