• 16,000 families and their neighbors in Haiti fight waterborne diseases such as cholera, typhoid, E. coli and hepatitis A.
• 3,000 families in Kenya build a better future by providing a stable means of economic support and food generation.
• nearly 1,300 in India receive meals prepared and served in hygienic facilities, resulting in better health and nutrition.
• vaccinate more than 2,500 children in Burkina Faso against meningitis.
• provide 200 children in Ghana with school fees, uniforms and books.

Today is a solemn day of reflection – World AIDS Day, a time set aside to bring global attention to the devastation of this silent killer.

At Compassion, World AIDS Day is also a day of gratitude for caring friends like you who have so generously given to ease the suffering, in Jesus’ name, of the AIDS-affected children and families we serve together.

It is my privilege to provide you with a downloadable report that details the effects of your compassion on the lives of children impacted by AIDS.

However, this particular day we have a sponsorship that is very special in that it represents a milestone for our ministry. Compassion is currently serving 1 million sponsored children! One million!!

I wish we could all be together today to celebrate this joyous moment. What a day it is!

Tune into Fox and Friends tomorrow (May 21) at 6:50 a.m. EDT to “meet” our 1 millionth child and his sponsor.

The newly sponsored child lives with his father outside Togo’s capital city of Lomé. Togo, a country whose population is seriously affected by the devastation of AIDS, is the most recent country to join the growing list of nations where Compassion works.

The child’s sponsor is from South Korea, the country in which Compassion began its mission 57 years earlier. The sponsor is most recently noted for a gold medal she won at last year’s Beijing Olympics.
