It’s our great honor to announce that Valeri Bure and Katia Gordeeva won the Battle of the Blades! With Val’s share of the $100,000 grand prize, we will be fully funding a Child Survival Program in the Dominican Republic, rescuing moms and babies from danger — and giving them the opportunity to take their first…
Katia and Val’s routine was amazing; the couple knew they had to bring their game up to a whole new level to stay alive. Impressive lifts wouldn’t be enough. So they pulled out some incredibly intricate, flawless footwork. The routine was superb, all of us in the audience loved it, and the judges agreed!
After a week off thanks to last week’s special “do-over” episode, a rested Katia Gordeeva and Valeri Bure performed phenomenally. Once again, they received the top score from the judges with a 17.8.
We are ecstatic that Valeri is continuing on to the next round of the Battle of the Blades. Next week sees all the survivors of Round Four take a break to make way for a second chance for one of the eliminated pairs to return to the competition.
Valeri Bure is back on the ice — this time as a competitor on Battle of the Blades, airing Sundays and Mondays on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. And he’s competing for Compassion.
This week, Val and Katia performed a difficult program in a dance-themed episode that resulted in a second place score of 17.4 from the judges.
The voters sent them into the bottom two for the competition, resulting in a skate-off against fellow competitors Violetta Afanasieva and PJ Stock.
Watch Battle of the Blades on CBC every week. NHL great Valeri Bure (of the Calgary Flames), is competing this year—and has named Compassion Canada as his charity! If you think his performance is the best, vote for Valeri and his partner every Sunday night by email, text or phone.
