Her daily schedule. (I’m referring to my newest child, who has sent me two letters so far.)
She is in Bangladesh, and reports her favorite foods are fish and rice.
I think that is the ONLY food she gets.
It’s a very sobering thought.

The best thing my sponsored child has shared with me is little glimpses into his life. He wants to be a pilot. And he asks that we pray that he has enough fuel for the family home. He’s five years old. I love learning who this little guy really is and becoming involved in his everyday life.

Ok, I love everything my sponsor kids share with me about their life, but I just have to share the special ‘gem’ of a comment my sister’s newest sponsor boy from Columbia shared with her. He said his mom left him and his brothers and sisters when he was just one year old, so he lives with his aunt and cousins, and grandmother, but they are a very happy family, and…. “God gave me another special person in my life…. YOU.”
Awww! When I read that, it melted my heart!

Judith (my first sponsored child…that she was building a better house with supplies she bought with the extra $ I was sending. That because of her sponsorship, she and her family had better lives!!!!
Cristine…that we are her other mommy and daddy.
Dominic and Bulu…that they are praying every day for my children.
Ayon…that he is lucky to have us on the other side of the world.
Alcides…says goodbye in his letters with “strong hugs and many kisses”
Hondy…his “American” sisters are beautiful.
Sunil and Nowanda…they (and their families) pray for us.
Josseling…always sends us beautiful pictures she has drawn.
Portia…she is happy to be part of our family.
Mekdes…that Jesus is her choice!
Girija…that through Compassion she is getting alot of benefits.

At first I thought this one was easy: …when Tausi told me she had received Jesus into her heart at Bible camp!
But…Uwizera taught me how much my few dollars can go, when $25 got her and her family a bed, a pair of shoes, and food, *after* she had tithed on it! (I’d never thought of birthday money as tithe-able, which says loads about my (former) attitude toward giving.)

in my first letter from 4 year old Grabiela she said she goes to church her brother who is learning pantomime. I don’t know exactly what that means, but it made me smile.

The mother of my sponsored child, Jeannette, in Rwanda wrote (in 2006): ‘We are so praising God because Jeannette’s brother who was lost in the genocide (aged 3) came back (aged 16)’.

Waljang, my little guy in Bangladesh, said, “You are a very good friend of mine!” Collins, my little guy in Kenya said of a family gift I sent, “Thank you for the gift. I never had a mattress or a blanket before and our roof leaked when it rained.” And Margaret, my new little girl in Uganda said, “I thank God for giving me food to eat and water to drink.” How many of our kids would think to thank God for that.

…that he put my photo “on” his bed to remember to pray for me every day. I received this comment in a letter from him one day when I was sad and discouraged, and asked God to lift me up in some way. I will never forget that day!

Anderson thanked me for being his sponsor and said that he loved me. Milton and his friends “marveled” over the picture and postcards I sent to him. Then Milton’s family thought it was cool that our birthday’s are on the same day and now we can never forget each other’s birthday.

Probably the most touching was the last letter we received from our 14-year-old sponsored girl in Thailand. She wrote it before she had any clue that her parents would soon pull her from the Compassion project and send her away to work full time in a factory. She wrote that if we would come to visit her, she would show us how much she loved us by washing our clothes for us “for the longest time in the world” so that we would stay a very long time. That letter still makes me cry!

When he graduated, our sponsored child, Manuel, made us a book containing photos, memories, and special thanks, including the joyful information that his whole family became Christians through his involvement in the Compassion project.

I have recieved many gifts from the children we sponsor but if I would have to pick one it would be the baby doll from our first sponsored child. She was so sweet as she looked me in the eyes and told me she wanted my daughter to have her favorite baby doll. Least to say I accepted it with tears in my eyes and joy in my heart with the Love she was sharing with me.

My sponsored child ends every letter with a bible verse. I love that! It means so much to me to know that she is learning about Jesus at the Compassion project.

My little Hilda in Guatemala knows that flying is one of my least favorite things so she always prays for safe travel for me and she hopes one day she can travel too! She always writes that she is happy to travel with me in her heart.

One of the boys I used to sponsor always used to draw a picture with his letters. I told him in one of my letters that he drew very nice pictures, and that I’m not very good at drawing. In the next letter I got from him, he said, “Don’t worry, one day you will draw well for I will pray for you”. That cracks me up everytime I read it. (I haven’t noticed much improvement in my drawing abilities, but this is something that will requre a lot of prayer :p )

Dave I love your answers amigo!!! I agree with Dave but have 3 more also.
I would have to say 3 things so far
1) Osmari letting me run as fast as I can with her on my shoulders
2) a letter saying “What is the biggest blessing you have received from God? Mine is having you as my sponsor.”
3) Having Angelo in the Philippines tell me he wants to be a basketball player so now I have committed to dunk a basketball for him with two hands when I visit in June…I have about 7-12 inches still to go!!! PRAY FOR ME!!!

I got a letter from my little (10 years old) Mary in Kenya she was very bold about her faith saying: “I am saved and I love God. I hope you are saved too.” You really get drawn into their world don’t you??

My precious little girl (5 yrs. old) in Ghana told me: “I will pray for you always so that whatever you do ends up successfully.” She is so sweet and I am so happy she is my sponsored child.
