The Virtue of Integrity

Integrity is one of the core values of our ministry and should drive us to measure and continually improve our effectiveness. May this devotion open our eyes to what God expects of us, His children, and encourage us to live a life of integrity.

  • Integrity as a Virtue
Integrity is a virtue for moral decision making and personal character building. In our passage for today, we read David’s prayer for God’s standard of integrity.

God looked into the heart of David and accepted his confession. Later, God even described David as “a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do” (Acts 13:22). Can God look at your heart and see what He saw in David? Will He see integrity as a virtue?

  • Integrity in the Family
The family is the best place to learn integrity (Proverbs 22:6). Many parents want to raise children full of integrity, but often the watching children see no trace of integrity in the lives of their parents.

Does your life reflect the integrity you desire in your children or ward? As parents, what integrity lessons are you passing on to the next generation?

  • Integrity in our Calling
For a believer, integrity in the workplace is not optional but a requirement from the Lord (Colossians 3:23–25). Integrity demonstrates that God is the giver of everything, including my vocation.

If I keep the habit of being late for work, complaining, being unfaithful, unreliable, or rude to my bosses, or just full of my own selfish desires, then my vocation will be a waste of time.

How is your level of integrity? It is never too late to turn to our God, who has no limits in transforming the old and making it new.

Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place. . . Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. —Psalm 51:6, 10, NIV

Prayer: Holy Father, thank you for your love. Teach us to know your Word so that we can be light and salt, bringing true integrity to our lives, families, and workplaces. Amen.
