Wess Stafford could be a rising star among evangelical leaders, filling his days with speaking engagements and guest appearances on TV talk shows.
He could be driving a luxury car, living in a mansion and coasting on his achievements as CEO and president of Colorado Springs-based Compassion International.
He wants none of it.
His life is all about helping poverty-stricken kids in the world through the faith-based organization he’s run for 16 years.
“I think I got this job because I care more than anybody else,” Stafford says.

Another great thing about Compassion is whether you are a new sponsor or longtime Compassion supporter or the President you can still make a huge impact on yourself and the kids and family you sponsor

It’s funny that this came up today, because I was driving down the road and I was thinking about Wess Stafford. I was thinking how he is truly a man, who loves the children is very genuine. I also thought that he is one of the best speakers, I’ve ever heard in my life. He would be a great pastor too! When you hear him talk, it is all real. Even when he is not talking about anything relating to Compassion. In other words, if he gave a message about another spiritual topic, it’s as real and as passionate.
I’ve had the priviledge of interviewing him a few years ago and it was the thing that ended up causing me to become an advocate in so many ways.
I think Compassion is very blessed to have him as President. We need to uphold him in our prayers, because I am sure that Satan would love to destroy him and will hold nothing back.

I would like to say that I was able to hear Wes Stafford speak on the radio yesterday. He was sharing his experiences from childhood. It was the most touching and heartbreaking thing I had heard. I so love the children of the world, but Africa is my heart. I think of all the children there who are abused and neglected. It tears me apart to think of how there appears to be little hope for many of them. Thank you Wes for what you do and for having a heart of forgiveness. Thank you for your compassion for those who suffer much the same things you did. I would love to help on the field.
