Prayer is one of the most powerful ways we can affect change in the world. It helps us to grow closer to God and to be a part of the miraculous things He has planned. We know that one of your heart’s greatest desires is to see children released from poverty!
But how do you pray for something so big?
Here are five powerful prayers you can make for children affected by poverty:
The world a child in poverty sees is filled with reasons to despair. Rough neighborhoods, drugs, sex trafficking, war and crime are realities many of them face every day.
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.” – Proverbs 18:10
Dear Lord, you are the God over all. We pray that you protect every child from the harm that surrounds them. Please provide a safe community and a safe haven for them to turn to in times of trouble so that they may live long days filled with your love and joy.
Parents, Guardians and Community Leaders
“Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me.” – Psalm 6:8
Father God, please be with the parents, grandparents, guardians, teachers, pastors, Compassion center staff and community leaders of these children. Make your plans and ways known to them. We ask that your wisdom be their guide so they can set the foundation and the path for a way out of the despair of poverty.
Children in poverty are too often deprived of their childhood. Many are forced to work to help their families. Others are exploited, or exposed to depravity.
“ …That you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish …” – Philippians 2:15
Lord, we pray for innocence for children in poverty. We pray that every child would have the opportunity to wonder, to learn, to grow and to play. What joy it brings to your heart to see the innocence of a child. Our hearts yearn for it for them.
