That is beautiful, but…Well, I sponsor two children, and it seems like such a wonderful idea to try and visit them someday, but I really don’t know if it would be so rewarding for them. I am not truly autistic, but have milder-end autistic-spectrum tendencies. It doesn’t come through in letters, but almost certainly would in person. As a functioning adult, I am aware of it, and have spent years learning to behave “normally,” but I can imagine that the emotional high of the experience might tempt me to be less careful and self-aware. The last thing I want to do is get excited and start speaking or moving in odd patterns. Even if it didn’t actually frighten them, it would just make things VERY awkward. I don’t think those kids need that – and neither would I want them to be disappointed in their “weird” sponsor. Oh, well…

I obviously don’t know your situation, but I just wanted to say that nothing is impossible with God. If you ever find yourself in a place where you can visit your child, I would encourage you to go for it. I am sure that your kiddos have difficulties too, of course, and perhaps it could be a great bonding experience! Either way, you are such a blessing to your sponsor children! I am 100% sure that they absolutely love you and your letters 🙂

I just got back yesterday from a sponsor tour to rwanda and I got to witness first hand the impact of sponsorship, it is beautiful and beyond words. Those children are so precious and it was awesome to be in their presence. I sponsored two more children and my biological children are so excited that they have a new brother and sister in africa.

If you asked most Compassion children what is your biggest dream, they would tell you to meet their sponsor in real life.

Each child is so beautiful, and every sponsor so tender. May God continue to bless this ministry. As I think about my sponsored child, Maria, my heart is so full of gratitude that our Lord has enabled me to be a part of her life. Maybe one day I’ll be able to see her face to face, too. This video is awesome.

Had to reach for the Kleenex on this one. I recognized several of the sponsors in the video, which made it even more special watching them with their precious kids. Thank you for sharing this!

This video is beautiful and literally makes my heart ache. Daily, I think of how much I want to be able to visit our Compassion children. While it is my daily prayer, I know it is up to God to open that door for me.

One day, I hope to be on foreign soil and running to hug a sponsored child.
