Leaving Traces

Since ancient times, man has recognized that his journey through this world is brief and that sooner or later he will leave. For some, the existence ends here. As Christians, we know that it is only the beginning of the abundant and eternal life we received when Jesus Christ gave His life to rescue us.

However, it is very easy to put our hope in this glorious future and forget about our lives “here and now.” We are tempted to escape the reality that surrounds us and, therefore, limit the potential that God has given us to impact and influence this world positively with our lives.

Have you asked yourself, “What trace am I leaving in this world? How will I be remembered? Who am I impressing with my way of life?”

I am convinced that each and every one of us can and must establish a personal goal for ourselves to leave marks during our pilgrimage on earth.

It does not matter if you are a professional or someone who has not had the opportunity to obtain an academic degree, if you are a businessman or you work for someone, if you are a pastor or leader or you only attend church services.

All of us can influence where we are and leave traces in the lives of others!

Let’s invest our lives in others, so they can develop the potential that God already gave them. Jesus believes in us and challenges us to do big things with our lives here on earth: “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father” (John 14:12).

Think of someone who can be influenced by your example. It may be your husband or wife, your children, your pastor, or a friend. You have a circle of influence where God has placed you to “leave a trace” and a legacy in this world.

And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. — Hebrews 11:13b, NIV

Prayer: Heavenly Lord, thanks for letting us be a positive influence to others. Help us to reflect You and leave a transcendental trace in the people around us. Amen!
