Godly character Many companies have a dress code for their employees. Compassion does too, but it’s not what you’d typically think of as a dress code.

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” – Colossians 3:12 (NIV)

And in this light, we commit to you:

  • to honor Jesus Christ in all that we do
  • to submit to the Word of God
  • to NOT compromise the centrality of Christ in our messages and programs
  • to treat children and their families with dignity and respect
  • to tell the truth and communicate honestly and openly
  • to align our thoughts, motivations, attitudes and actions with the ethical principles found in God’s word

Listen to Wess talk about the importance of demonstrating Godly character.

I love this! All of it.

I especially love that Compassion does “NOT compromise the centrality of Christ in [its] messages and programs.” I know there is great temptation in this world for both individuals and corporations to bend their beliefs to be accepted by others or to meet certain corporate goals.

But all I can think is, if Compassion had ever given in to the pressure to water down its Christian message, Meredith Dunn’s wonderful post “Faith Rising” may never have been written.

I think Matthew Parris’s article was a little thank you note from God for doing what we know is right. Rewards come in strange ways sometimes. That article put a HUGE smile on my face. :)

I first saw this poster in the Ghana Country Office last year, and I’ve never seen it lived out so beautifully as I did there.
