If you could record your thoughts for a day, what would you hear? What would God hear?

To help you answer, take this little quiz:

How much of today did I spend thinking healthy (constructive) thoughts versus unhealthy (destructive) thoughts?

  1. Very little
  2. Some
  3. A lot
  4. Nearly all day long

Most of us give good attention to our physical health, but what about our thought life? How should we keep it healthy, not conformed to this world but transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2)?

I find this hard to do with all the worldy things that bombard my mind, not to mention my inward fallen nature. It’s a battle.

Let’s begin a healthy thinking exercise today by implementing this advice from Paul: “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things” (Philippians 4:8).

For one week, ask God to direct your thinking to healthy things and to convict you quickly of unhealthy thoughts. It’s amazing the work He will do in you.

Prayer: Lord, we need You to keep doing a work in us by renewing our minds through Your power.
