Through the years, poverty-related issues have led to the loss of sponsored children, family members of sponsored children, and even some of our staff. On this Memorial Day, will you join us in remembering and celebrating the lives of these loved ones who are no longer with us?
But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. — Philippians 3:20-21, NIV

I’ve been sponsoring for 31 years through several Christian sponsorship organizations including Compassion. That’s a lot of sponsor kids I’ve said good-bye to as they left the programs, and that’s always tough. I don’t know if all of them are still living – I pray that they are. There was a Ugandan teen who ‘disappeared’ and wasn’t found. I pray for her a lot. What a blessing and joy they have all been in my life!
I will continue to pray for Maria and Semira, both of whom are still living, but have moved out of my life. I miss them so much, but I know God still has His eye and His hand on them.
Perhaps each of us who have lost a sponsored child or loved one could remeber them in a comment.
Well, I started corresponding with 10 year old Carlos in November 2011. He was from Mexico. In April 2012, his family left the Compassion area. I know he did not pass away, but I still cried because I would not get to know this little boy. I still pray for him, though. I love you, Carlos 🙂
