The Pastors Discipleship Network (PDN) is an initiative begun by Leadership Development Program* graduate and Moody Bible Institute scholar Richmond Wandera. It exists:
“to train and equip local pastors in Africa with basic study tools for accurately interpreting God’s Word through monthly seminars, accountability relationships, and the provision of study resources.”
We’re bringing PDN to your attention as an example of what we mean when we say,
“The Leadership Development Program identifies young Compassion-assisted men and women who have shown potential to become Christian leaders who can, in turn, influence their own families, churches, communities and nations.”
PDN is an example of your support bearing fruit! Even if you don’t sponsor a leadership development student, your commitment to Compassion helps create the environment for opportunities like this. That’s what holistic child development is.
You can learn all about PDN at pdnafrica.org and can stay current with Richmond’s work via the PDN Facebook page.
But the philosophy essentially boils down to this:
“When a pastor is trained, his church is also trained; when you resource the pastor, his church is also resourced … everything rises and falls on leadership … a trained pastor becomes a watchman against heresy and false teaching. Therefore, training a local pastor protects the church.”
“My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge” — Hosea 4:6 (NIV)

Richmond — this is beautiful and powerful! I’m so glad to see this website and to see the direction God is taking you!
During my LDP experience, God broke my heart for my community and country. He put in me a passion to advocate for children and their spiritual caregivers(pastors. I am living my dream now, as I go about calling the American people to live simply so that children living in grinding poverty can see better days. Until the last helpless child is sponsored, we must continue… Thank you all for your support as I also equip pastors in Uganda with what I’ve learned at Moody.
Great idea! Brilliant!
I am looking forward this program to be implemented in Indonesia!
Richmond is indeed very special. If you are in the Dallas area, you can hear him speak on Thursday, June 3rd at 7pm. We will be at Park Cities Baptist Church, off Loop 12. For more information or to rsvp–contact Lana Copper, at [email protected]. All are welcome!! bring quests!! Dessert will be served, so help plan by letting us know you’re coming!
Awesome! It’s so encouraging to see Richmond doing this for pastors 🙂
Mr. Wandera is a very special man!! Awesome and brilliant program!! I also agree with the above statement of Ms. Tremblay. Africa isn’t the only place this is needed so I hope his idea will be carried by others reading this post.
This is wonderful! How exciting to see the LDP students heading out and changing the world.
Even if Richmond won’t actually start one, maybe he’d come alongside and encourage an American to do the same thing. Our own pastors definitely need the support and encouragement to stay true to the Truth and not “tickle our ears”.
What an awesome and powerful ministry! Think he’d consider starting a PDN America?? 🙂
This is such an exciting ministry, and so important. Another reason to love LDP! The influence of the investment can multiply and multiply.
