We at Compassion are very, very proud of Patrick, a Leadership Development Program* student in Uganda who recently refused a bribe that would have allowed a dangerous drug to be released to the public.
While Patrick was working as an intern at a pharmaceutical company, he was asked repeatedly to pass a drug that had harmful chemicals in it. In fact, Patrick was offered 10 million Ugandan shillings — enough for him and his family to buy land and a new house.
Patrick refused the bribe and told the company that he simply would not pass the bad drugs.
The pharmaceutical company destroyed the drug in question, and now thousands of Ugandans are safer due to Patrick’s integrity and strength in Christ. Recognized for his leadership, Patrick was offered a promotion by the same company a week later.
Here is his story in his own words.

Your story gives me strength. Thank you.
Now THIS is the kind of story I like to hear! May God bless you abundently, Patrick, for choosing integrity over personal gain!!
Great job, Patrick! I hope and pray that my sponsored child will have as much integrity and honesty as you. Thank you for being a model citizen for all of us!
This testimony proves that there is hope for Uganda; one child at a time, thanks Patrick for standing up to be counted and being part of the solution to thousands who would have otherwise suffered from all the side effects of these formulations. Unto every sponsor and donor reading this blog may you be encouraged that your support to the ministry of Compassion International is indeed unto life.
Integrity in every aspect of life, even when it’s deeply difficult. That’s what LDPs learn. Patrick was an advocate for the poor in a way no one could imagine…”for such a time as this” LDPs are heroes!
way to go patrick. I’m proud of you for choosing God’s way.
I haven’t had a situation with that much money fall in my lap so to speak, but I think you should have taken the money and failed the drug as a payment to you for trying to get you to do something not good 😉
Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners Christ died for us!”
Thankyou Patrick for choosing the higher road. We have many friends in Uganda and will be living there soon, it is good to know God has HIS people in Uganda standing against and defeating corruption. Blessings to you and your family
Well done, Patrick. I am SO proud of you! Thank God for His love and laws written on your heart. Keep standing for Christ and justice.
Praise Jesus! My prayer is that the little girl I sponsor will be a committed Christian serving God just like Patrick is. I love hearing about how former Compassion kids grow up to be used by the Lord!
Blessings, Patrick! As a sponsor of Compassion kids, it warms my heart to see what a man of God you are! Thank you for sharing your story and for being a strong man of principles.
