malaria infection can only be transmitted from an infected female anopheles mosquito to a person

    And the answer is …

    False.

Malaria is transmitted by certain types of mosquitoes that carry a parasite that causes the disease. A person contracts malaria when he or she is bitten by an infected mosquito.

I don’t know for sure, but from what I know about how it’s transmitted, I would say false. I believe it can only be transmitted by infected mosquitos.

  4. Valerie April 17, 2009

False – at least as far as any “conventional” means of transmission. However, it is a blood-borne pathogen so it can be transmitted through blood transfusions or through birth.

    I agree with Vicki! 🙂

  6. Vicki Small April 17, 2009

False. Malaria is transmitted only by an infected mosquito.

  7. Judith Tremblay April 17, 2009

False. The disease is transmitted by mosquitos (or possibly if you were able to share blood, like from a cut maybe? dunno).

  8. Mike Stephens April 17, 2009

False unless you somehow were able to share blood. But I may be wrong.
