It’s Better to Be Inside the Ark

The ministry of God is like Noah’s Ark. God instructed Noah to build an ark and bring two of all animal kinds into it — frogs, cockroaches, mosquitoes, lizards, everything. (I wonder how he was able to tell which was male and which was female!) Noah obeyed, and the door was shut.

As it rained endlessly outside, people surely knocked at the door of the ark begging Noah to save them from the floods. But think of the people on the inside. They were dealing with heat, different personalities, odors, noise, and a situation that must have been nearly unbearable.

The people on the inside probably wanted to come out. Still, comparing the two situations — inside and outside the ark — it is obvious that inside was preferable. Outside, the flood was killing people. People were perishing.

The same is true in the house of God. Despite all the difficulties, conflicts, and unbearable situations, it is better to be inside the Church than outside the Church. It is better to be under God’s covering than outside of it.

In Compassion, things may not always go well. We will have problems with colleagues and supervisors, people will step on our toes, we may be frustrated. But remember, life inside Compassion is better than what is outside.

Human relations can be better if you start with yourself. Organizational goals can be achieved if you work as part of the team. If someone offends you, don’t walk out. Remember that people are knocking on our door trying to get in.

I want to challenge us all to be part of the changes going on inside Compassion rather than getting frustrated or offended and leaving. Today, our changes, uncertainties, and financial challenges may seem like a flood. Where do you want to be, outside or inside the ark?

The LORD then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation.” — Genesis 7:1, NIV

Prayer: Father in heaven, give us a heart of endurance, patience, and longsuffering to bear with difficult situations. Also grant us the grace, wisdom, and courage to join in changing and taking this ministry to the height you have in mind for us. Amen!
