Stories to Connect You With Compassion & Grow Your Faith

In a country where 1600 people die every die because of diarrhea due to unsafe water and 59% of of those who practice open defecation reside, one Child Development Center took the matter of lack of access to clean sustainable water and sanitation into their own hands and mobilized their community into action.

Everybody has one. Old or young, we all celebrate it. It doesn’t matter if they are big or small celebrations, we all look forward to a little acknowledgment that day – a little something from the world that says, “I see you.”

The Rock & Worship Roadshow just wrapped up their 12th of 20+ shows in Louisville, KY this weekend. They’ve asked fans and followers to share their photos and videos with #RWRS15. Here are our favorites from the first half of the Roadshow tour.

It’s almost been one week since we returned home from the Blog Trip to the Dominican Republic. We’re slowly settling back into our routines. Remembering how to live in our reality while carefully carrying with us the reality of the children we met. More than 30 blog posts were written by our trip bloggers. It may have been hard to keep up with them all so I wanted to highlight my favorite post from each blogger! Hopefully it will help you this trip if you missed it!

Pity is a feeling many of us have when we come face-to-face with the misfortunes of others — with those whom we perceive to have less than us. We feel pity when we see things we don’t understand. We feel pity when we feel helpless to act. Many people, myself included, feel pity but that’s as far as it goes. Pity can sometimes stop action from happening.

We’re getting so excited for Compassion Sunday on April 26th! This is a day when thousands of children living in poverty will gain a sponsor and new opportunities for their lives. But we know that hosting Compassion Sunday can be a little intimidating, especially if it’s your first time. Never fear! We’ve asked a few people who are old pros at hosting Compassion Sunday what they would like to share with people who are thinking of hosting their first Compassion Sunday.

Compassion Sunday is a day for churches across America to share the Bible’s message of caring for those in need and to give people the opportunity to sponsor a child. But even more than that, it’s a day when churches in America come together in solidarity with churches in the developing world.

Being born in America, eating every day all day any day, being able to read and write, going to university. If you can say yes to any of these you are the minority in this world. You have influence.

Some days, most days – they’re just that. Days. And then one day. A day that seemed like it would be just a day, breaks open like a piñata you’ve been swinging at for years.

Yes changes lives. Yes can change a child’s life forever. Yes can change eternity.

Each Compassion Blogger on this trip to the Dominican Republic has an amazing personal story to share. All different. All unique.

Yet as you get to know Ruth, Bonnie, Holley, Lisa and Bri this week, you will see something in their blog posts, something special they all have in common – a deeply held love for God and for His children.
