The Wait Is Over

Today is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.

Every year, the United Nations dedicates one day to raise awareness on global poverty. This year’s theme is “Leave no one behind: think, decide and act together against extreme poverty.” At Compassion International, we dedicate our LIVES to the very same thing. We’ve been marking off the days on our calendar for today to come and, finally, the wait is over! It’s kind of a big deal!

Today, in partnership with Hillsong, we want to introduce you to Halena and her family in Indonesia. They have been waiting for a long, long time for someone to sponsor her. They have been marking off days and weeks on their calendar in anticipation.

You can also view The Wait Is Over on YouTube.

And when we hear stories like Halena’s and her family in Indonesia, we are simply overwhelmed with gratitude that we get to do what we do with you. Love stops poverty in its tracks. We are addicted to our Child Sponsorship Board that shows when kids get sponsored in real time. Each new face that pops up on that page is an old life changed and a new legacy created.

The wait is over for kids like Halena. Her days are no longer filled with despair. Her years are now filled with joy. She wasn’t left behind.

There are many children like her who are waiting. They are waiting for a sponsor to tell them they are loved and that they matter.

Will you consider sponsoring a child today on the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty and telling them #thewaitisover?
