This month on our Second Friday Letter Writing Club board on Pinterest we’re focusing on love (and Valentine’s Day). We would love for you to join us in finding some great projects to send to our sponsored children.
Webster’s Dictionary defines love as “strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties.” As a Compassion sponsor, even though I have not met them yet, I definitely love my sponsored children. The tie that binds us together? Jesus. I know that He loves me, and I know that He loves my sponsored children.
Even though December can get quite busy with shopping, baking, parties, concerts and many other obligations, there is one thing each one of us can do to let our sponsored children know we love them: Sit down and write to them.
Write each month. And write with an eye to the future, when your sponsored child will receive your letter. Hence our December focus on Valentine’s Day.
Your letter doesn’t have to be long. It can be a short note. In fact, if you write your child online you’ll be writing just a few paragraphs.
If you decide to send a handwritten letter, I’ve found a few things on Pinterest that you might like to include.
Here is a printable that would make a great reminder for your sponsored child that he or she is dearly loved.
And how about this one to encourage your sponsored child?
Looking for a few questions to ask your sponsored child? Try these.
- Who do you love?
- What do you love to do?
- What Bible verse do you love?
- What would you love to do when you grow up?
